Bobi Lee Bosson is a very profound artist with many different styles of art. Bobi went to college at California State University Long Beach. She went into Long Beach as a sales major, but quickly decided to change it to art design. She felt more more natural and in place in the field of arts. Her art style ranges from all styles, including paintings and sculptures to digital arts. One constant throughout most of her art pieces is most involve the woman’s body shape.

When looking at Bobi’s painting’s are always so captivating. I was looking at her piece of art named “Roxanne.” This painting has many bright and vivid colors in it. The left side of it is very blotchy with explosions of colors, while the right side consists of straight lines fading into the blotches on the left side. This painting is very up close, showing a lot of color and details throughout the whole piece of artwork.

This art piece is about the red light district in Amsterdam. Her art design was inspired by Monet, Manet and Degas. This piece focuses on the prostitution that goes on within this area. The inspiration for this piece was the thought of what the girls in this area has to do to survive and get through life. Prostitution seems like such a foreign topic to many, but in the red light district it’s a lot of girls’ way of life.

This is really powerful to me because I wasn’t even aware this place existed. This painting has given me a little bit of awareness of this area that I had never heard of and encouraged me to do a little bit of research on this topic. For me personally, this art piece doesn’t relate much. I have not been personally involved in prostitution, but this art piece has given me a little bit of a wakeup call that this is a way of life for many people. When the artist explained the meaning a little more, I believe that the painting captured the red light district perfectly.
